Public Schools Vs Home Schooling – Which Provides The Best Elementary Education?
If you are a parent then you probably already know that children learn best when they are young, it has been proven. What does this mean for you though? It means that when it comes down to deciding where your child will get his/her elementary education you should think about it long and hard.
What should you do? Let your child go to a public education system to get their elementary education or should you home school them? This is a hard decision so here is a basic rundown of both of the two and you decide which would fit your child best.
Elementary school teachers, teaching at public schools, are trained to do their job. However, these teachers are not able to always teach everything. Your child may have a teacher that is unable to teach them science properly or p.e. You have to remember though that you are going to be the one teaching your child if you go to home schooling, can you teach everything?
Now, because the teaching is probably the major reason you would consider home schooling I would recommend that you go to the school you are thinking about having your child attend and talk to some of the teachers and if you are able to see the way they teach.
Another reason you may consider home schooling is because you do not want your child to have to try and learn in a 1 teacher to 20 student ratio. If you are able to teacher your child one on one then your child will not have to get held back by other students.
A major thing you should consider if you are thinking about home schooling is will your child be able to socialize with others if they are home schooled. Some of the best times for socializing with other children is at school when they are able to be in a classroom learning together or out at the playground playing games with each other. If you take this away from your child they may have a hard time being an ordinary kid around others.
What it really comes down to is what is best for your child on the subject of elementary education. If you have a child who is going to need special treatment because they are really smart or because you are worried about their safety and the education they would receive at a public school then you should consider home schooling them. However, if your child is a normal kid, you believe the public school education is good, and you want them to have a good sense of cooperation and socializing skills then go with public school.

Home Schooling – There Are Some Disadvantages
There are a number of advantages to home schooling your children. They get the educational material you know they should be getting. They get the one-on-one attention you know they deserve. Moreover, they don’t encounter any of the problems with schools today like drugs and bullies. While you may know about the advantages, you should certainly take some time to think about the disadvantages to this method of educating your children before you enroll them in your personal academy.
If you think you are ready to home school your children, consider the following. First, think about whether or not you are truly ready to stay at home and spend hours on end instructing your child. Don’t forget that being an instructor involves subject area research, create a curriculum, and assessing your child’s competence. Next, think about whether or not you truly have the effective teaching skills necessary to help your child understand the concepts you are attempting to teach. You should also make sure that you are able to offer your child subject material that is correct. Furthermore, be sure that you truly understand your child from an academic standpoint. Knowing your child’s strengths and weaknesses is an important part of the educational process. In addition to academics, part of the importance of school is socialization. If you are unable to provide activities for you child to help with the socialization process, home schooling probably is not for you. The last thing you should consider is whether or not you feel you can be solely held responsible for your child’s education and knowledge.
Home schooling may seem like the perfect answer to your child’s education problems, but unless you can competently provide instruction and socialization activities, it would be best to steer clear of the entire process. You want your child to get a good education to help them get a solid start in life, and you simply cannot do that if you are unprepared to dedicate yourself to your child’s education.

Multi-Age Home Schooling – Starting And Practicing Algebra
As I’m sure you know algebra and mathematics in general, needs a lot of practice if your child/pupil (whatever the age) is to completely own the subject. Of course you can easily find books and even interactive online lessons or courses that can help you a lot but you must be prepared to practice – if not, you will fail.
It is difficult to learn the hundreds of theories and equations only by reading them to your child/multi-age pupil; algebra is not a poem you know.
What you need to do is have a plan. It’s quite easy actually: you need to make every step slowly but surely. You open the book and start with the fist theory/equation by making a lot of exercises until your pupil understands the theory completely. It can take between a couple of hours to a couple of days. Remember that it is important to have patience with home based schooling.
By following this simple plan you’ll notice that the pupil will begin to understand every concept and become very good at algebra. He may even start to like it.
The next important thing you need to consider is teaching the basics at first, practice them a lot, and only when your child completely understands them, move to medium equations. Many people mess this part up and the results are accordingly.
Algebra and mathematics in general are vital to a person’s development as it helps them solve problems or apply strategies which will help them later in life, so be sure to get it right.
